To begin with, Shakespeare’s play ‘hamlet’ revolves around death and revenge actions between the characters. However, the theme of death in the play is conspicuous compared to the rest. Moreover, Shakespeare has used several characters with diverse behaviors to bring out the concept of recurrent deaths in the play.

In fact, most of the characters in the story are so selfish and self-centered and they do not care about the welfare of others. For example, Claudius killed his brother king Hamlet so as to inherit his authority as king in Denmark. Apart from this, he also plans on how prince Hamlet should be killed since he has realized that Claudius was responsible for his father’s death. More to this point, most of these deaths take place in Elsinore where the king’s palace is situated. For example, prince Hamlet killed Polonius in the palace thinking he is Claudius while the rest of the characters die in Aphelia’s funeral.

Basically, the reason as to why Shakespeare has used death as a mainly recurring concept is to bring out the dead leadership of the Denmark people. In fact, the author brings out clearly the fact that the people in Denmark are full of hatred and cannot be in a position to build their own territory. In reality, this is brought out in the play when Prince Hamlet hands over the leadership mantle to the prince of Fortinbras from Norway. This is to suggest that Denmark as a nation is dead and has to be ruled under the Norwegians government due to the hatred and poor governance among them.

On the hand, the deaths that occur in Elsinore really affect the existence of Prince Hamlet. First, he loses his father king Hamlet and in his mission to revenge his father’s death he kills Polonius thinking he is Claudius. This really worked against him since Polonius was his girlfriend’s father who eventually dies as a result of frustration. Finally, prince Hamlet also dies during Aphelia’s funeral after all the other family members were dead. Therefore, the many deaths that occurred in Hamlet play really worked against Prince Hamlet whereby he also died in the process.
